“In July 1999, Yaung Chi Oo Workers’ Association (YCOWA) was founded by U Moe Swe, along with Burmese student activists and migrant workers in Mae Sot, Thailand.
Over two decades, YCOWA has dedicated itself to improving the working and living conditions of Burmese migrant laborers, expanding its reach to industrial zones in Yangon since 2009.
Focused on safeguarding worker rights, providing labor rights education, and fostering social well-being, YCOWA has made a significant impact. The organization’s commitment to solidarity and advocacy has left an indelible mark on the lives of Burmese migrants in both Thailand and Burma.”
